D-Link DI-604 Ethernet Broadband Router

My wired broadband router is getting old and it seems that it is starting to perform a little less reliable and disconnections are kind of becoming frequent so I guess it’s time to change it. I got my little home network a new router, the D-Link DI-604, since the interface is new to me, I have to familiarize myself with it. Fortunately, the device’s user interface is pretty friendly so I got it setup easily. Though unfortunately, base on D-Link website, the product has already been discontinued as of June 1, 2008, I still managed to acquire one. I guess this device would just do fine for my simple home network needs.

dlink-di604The device has 4-port switch with 10/100 ethernet ports for direct connection of a small home or office network of up to 4 PCs or computer. After using it for a day, its performance so far is good. I just hope it would last long given that the product is now discontinued by D-Link.

Palit Gecorce 9800 GT Green 1GB

I just upgraded my video card from Geforce 9400 GT to Palit Geforce 9800 GT Green 1GB. It was a necessary upgrade for some graphics and photo editing tasks and as well as some gaming. Well, I can say it’s a good card for value. I did some benchmark and compared it to my previous card and performance was really noticeable. Games having a low FPS, around 15 fps, jumps to a very nice and playable framerate at around 30-50 FPS and occasionally shoots over those rates. Continue reading ‘Palit Gecorce 9800 GT Green 1GB’

Sparkle GeForce 9400GT

When I setup my rig, I had to fit all components within my very limited budget. As I don’t have “hardcore-graphics-demanding” application to run in mind just yet (even hardcore gaming), I went for my top priority, being able to run many apps simultaneously or multi-tasking. I chose to limit my rig to a somewhat lower graphics card but with good quality in order to have a higher budget for my CPU. Just to have my rig up and running for the tasks I must do, I got my rig with a Sparkle 9400GT PCI-e video card.

Creative SB 5.1 VX and Creative SBS A500 5.1 speaker

Just recently, I upgraded from my motherboard audio to a pci audio card. The sound was fine using the on-board audio subsystem feature of the motherboard but I wanted to have an enhanced sound experience or a much fuller sound especially when I’m playing music on a media player in my system. So I upgraded my system audio to a Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 VX sound card. Continue reading ‘Creative SB 5.1 VX and Creative SBS A500 5.1 speaker’

HP Deskjet D2460 Printer review

I had this printer from HP for like 5 months now, the HP Deskjet D2460 printer and I find the prints from it quite good. The installation and setup is easy and straightforward. Just two things I just noted about this printer, the cartridges (both black and tricolor) have little capacity, just about 5ml and I’m not sure but using the device drivers that came with the printer, the pop up alert for “low ink” status is kind of annoying as at times it keeps popping up even when the printer is already turned off. I just recently updated the drivers to the latest one and so far it’s not doing the annoying pop up thing. Other than than these, the printer is good for everyday printing tasks.
